Domestic, Global Business, Authorised

A

Domestic Company

The domestic company is the standard structure used to conduct commercial activities in Mauritius, with both residents and non-residents. However, if the majority of the shares are held by non-citizens and the activity is conducted principally outside Mauritius, the company must obtain a specific licence from the Financial Services Commission (FSC).

Following major reforms to comply with OECD norms and standards, the Mauritian corporate landscape has been simplified. The former GBC1 licences have been replaced by the Global Business Licence (GBL), while GBC2 licences have been abolished in favour of a new status: the Authorised Company.
